Today was a bit overcast, so the ‘mission’ for the day was to find a few pics that were worthy of HDR processing.

This was my first attempt to do a layer blend in Photoshop.  I kind of like this technique, I’m going to have to use it more.

Finding a gem

I decided to head to the antique shops of Nanton for the afternoon…and found this little gem. For me, this was like finding a diamond, and I’m absolutely stoked! My Grandfather used to run a shoe repair business in Edmonton. Among all the shoe repair products and machines that he had, he used to have several shelves full of these ‘Biltrite’ rubber heels that he would use to repair customer shoes. I haven’t seen a box like this since I was 9 years old, but I was lucky enough to find this one in Nanton today, complete with the original rubber heels. I’m planning on framing this, along with two shoe repair hammers from his shop and hanging them on my wall. I love days like today, I’m absolutely thrilled to come across a find like this, I couldn’t be happier!

A sunny day out at the Valley of Fire State park in Nevada.  Just perfect for us Canadians…not to hot and not too cold.  And no mosquitos, of course!

An early morning winter hike up Nose Hill

Early Saturday morning…I took a walk up one of the hills in Nose Hill Park.  It was a chilly -9C, with a bit of wind.  It was hard to stay out for very long in the open, but catching the morning’s sunrise was well worth it.  I love a good sunrise, I could spend a lifetime watching them.

Winter is here, no doubt about it.  This is from a stroll around the neighbourhood.
